If you store tapes or other physical media for computer data backups you basically have two choices:

1. Leave it on-site (not recommended) or
2. Hire a courier service to take it off-site for you.

Leaving it on-site is dangerous, even if it's in a fire proof safe. Hiring a courier service to pick and deliver your tapes (or other media) can be very expensive, especially if you have crash. Additionally, if there is a wide spread disaster the courier service may be overwhelmed.
